With the clock and diamond gone, Hank tasks Arron and Rachel with tracking down whomever made the clock in the first place while he heads off to follow the map. Arron discovers that the clockmaker is Norbert Peter Steinke IV, an old man living in Bavaria, Germany. Against Hank's orders, Arron and Rachel head there to meet with him.

Arron and Rachel track down the clockmaker to his home in Bavaria, Germany. When they meet with him, he begins to explain elements of a disturbing mystery dating back to before the second World War. He claims that events are now set in motion leading to a doomsday scenario he calls "zero hour."
