The clock is ticking down to the premiere of the new ABC series
Zero Hour THURSDAY FEB 14 8|7c, and as we get closer to the series premiere, more secrets are going to be unveiled. The cast and producers of the show were at the TCAs in Pasadena, California this morning. They didn’t want to give too much away, but here are a few things they mentioned about the show, themselves and what’s coming our way!
Anthony Edwards had said that he wouldn’t do another one-hour TV show after
ER. But
Zero Hour surprised him. He couldn’t put the script down when he read it. Anthony believes that his character, Hank Galliston, gets to be like the audience in the sense that he’s sometimes very bewildered by what’s happening to him. The journey that Hank is going on is one in which he has no preconception of where he’ll end up.
Carmen Ejogo was drawn to her character, Rebecca "Beck" Riley, because it was the most layered role she’s seen. She knew she’d be able to sink her teeth into something that is very complex. Carmen would bet that this will be the most original storytelling on television this year. Her character, specifically, is so nuanced. It gets more complicated the further down the rabbit hole she goes.
Jacinda Barrett said her character, Laila Galliston, has done things you couldn’t imagine based on what she did in the pilot. It’s a very surprising, very exciting character. The question of how and why her character is involved in what’s happening leads to a shift as the show moves forward. Nobody is all good or all bad in this show. You get to see why the characters end up the way they do.
Executive Producer Paul Scheuring wanted to make something gigantic. He wanted to figure out what’s the coolest MacGuffin he could come up with for the show. The pilot was shot in Montreal with the tundra shots taking place north of there. He knows the audience wants to feel like they are in the places they are seeing. The entire Nazi conspiracy story will be done at the end of episode 13 this season, but the characters will move on to new adventures. Paul says the show is about the different characters’ fates.
Executive Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said that the casting of the show was all about who would be the best actor or actress to fill the role.
Executive Producer Dan McDermott says the show works on many different levels. There’s nothing that will confuse the audience too much.
Executive Producer Zack Estrin said the show is based in New York, but they turn the city into places all over the world. He continued, saying each episode will reveal a piece of the puzzle, so fans won’t have to wait forever for answers. A lot of the things that you think you know from the pilot...actually you don’t.
