Bio

Mario Batali and his business partner Joe Bastianich own 17 restaurants across the country, including their flagship New York City restaurant Babbo, as well as two restaurants in Los Angeles and three in Las Vegas. In the summer of 2010, they opened Eataly, the largest Italian artisanal food marketplace in the world. The duo also opened Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza in the Marina Bay Sands Resort Casino in Singapore, and in the summer of 2011 opened Tarry Lodge Pizzeria and Enoteca in Westport, Connecticut, and a new Pizzeria Mozza location in Newport Beach, California.

As a TV personality, Batali has hosted a variety of television shows for Food Network, including Ciao America and Molto Mario. In the fall of 2008, Batali’s PBS series Spain…On the Road Again aired with co-stars Mark Bittman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols. Batali is also a frequent guest on Good Morning America, The Today Show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Batali is the author of nine cookbooks, including the James Beard Award Winning Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes, his latest bestseller Molto Gusto — based on the classic and celebrated dishes of Otto Enoteca Pizzeria — and his newest book Molto Batali: Simple Family Meals from My Home to Yours, out in October 2011.

In 2008, Batali started the Mario Batali Foundation, with a mission of feeding, protecting, educating and empowering children.

Batali splits his time between New York City’s Greenwich Village and Northern Michigan with his wife and their two sons.
