Power of Food: Pumpkin

Today is a celebration of fall and for Daphne that means autumn produce including her favorite fruit, pumpkin.  It’s packed with vitamins and nutrients making it not only a power food for you body but a beauty food as well. Pumpkins make you pretty inside and out.

One great way to enjoy pumpkin is a tasty pumpkin bread.  This bread is rich in carotenoids which stave off free radicals in the body, cardiovascular disease and other infections.  It’s also vitamin rich with vitamins a and c, magnesium, potassium and zinc.

However, pumpkin isn’t just a great food for you internal health but it’s also a great beauty food.  Pumpkin is a natural exfoliator and perfect for fall because if you spent any time in the sun this summer you probably have some dry skin and splotchy remnants of a tan.  Daphne has a pumpkin scrub for your skin that has only three ingredients and this is amazing.

Combine:

½ cup pureed pumpkin
3 tablespoons organic sugar
½ teaspoon flax seed oil

Apply:

Gently scrub using circular motions.

Rinse off after a few minutes with lukewarm water.
