In keeping with today’s theme, comfort good without all the calories, the co-hosts discuss healthy habits in the New Year. On today’s Last Bites, Michael mentions how even the smallest changes in your routine may make a big difference on your health. While he is in New York, for example, Michael’s dog walking responsibilities are on hiatus, and within 3 weeks of not walking his dogs, he gained 10 pounds. Clinton also notices that walking a few blocks to the subway each day helps him stay fit.
Another finding that may come as a bit of a shock is that watching scary movies also helps you burn calories. How is this possible, you may ask? Well, when you’re startled, your body pumps adrenaline and your pulse increases, and your body is therefore able to burn some extra calories. According to a recent study, some of the scariest movies include: The Shining, Jaws, and the Exorcist. So, if you’re worried about the few pounds you may have put on after the holidays, just pop in one of these frightening flicks, and watch the pounds melt away!
