More to Chew On: Last Bites From Around the Country

  • By The Chew Crew
With Halloween officially over it’s time to get ready for Thanksgiving.  We are three weeks out and time to start planning.

If you are going to travel it’s time to finalize those plans. In 2011, over 40 million people traveled at least 50 miles for the holiday. If you’re traveling far enough to fly and haven’t already bought your airfare, get ready to spend a fortune. Thanksgiving flights are at an all time high and up 9% from last year! The average domestic round trip will cost you close to $400.

However, if you’ve decided to host instead of traveling now is still a great time to get organized.  This go to checklist is sure to keep you on point.

Invite Your Guests.  Before you can plan the meal, you need to know who’s going to eat it!  Confirm your guest list now if you haven’t already.

Plan Your Menu.  Commit to what you’ll be cooking so you can focus on cooking it.

Check Your Supplies.  Did you replace your chipped gravy boat from last Thanksgiving?  Do you have as many chairs as guests?  Buy these items now to get the big stuff out of the way.

Clean the Clutter.  Before you make the feast, you’ll need to store the supplies.  Make room in your pantries, fridges and cupboards for incoming food!
