It’s hard to improve on a classic, particularly one as beloved as the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, but master chef Mario Batali found a way. He starts with a thick piece of French toast, tops it with a healthy slathering of tomato jam, adds a couple slides of maple bacon and finally drizzles maple syrup.
Michael’s Toad in a Hole
You might ask, what’s a toad in hole? This sandwich is a 50’s style concoction of white bread, bologna, salad dressing and a sunny side up egg. Yes, it sounds terrible, but in fact it’s delicious and it’s one of Michael’s secret guilty pleasures.
