Without question salt is one of the most important seasonings you can have in your kitchen cabinet. Carla’s got some extra tips how to use it without overdoing and what to do if you have.
Keep It Handy for That Extra Pinch
If you need fine salt or sugar on the fly, there is a simple way to make it. Add your desired amount of salt or sugar in a blender or food processor and pulse until it’s fine. It’s an inexpensive and quick solution to the problem.
Salty Soup? Add Potatoes
If you happen to over-salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled and cubed potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt. That way you don’t have to start over from scratch and waste the entire pot of soup.
Give Your Over-Salted Olives a Rinse
If olives are too salty, soak in cold water for an hour or so. Drain. Toss in a bit of olive oil and lemon zest to refresh.
