The first of Victoria’s affairs was with David Clarke. They first met at New Year’s Eve party the Graysons threw in 1990. It was love at first sight and these two embarked on a 3 year affair. You would hope that Victoria would have finally found someone she truly loved, but her sense of self preservation was much greater than the love she had for this man. The breaking point in their relationship for Victoria showed up in 1993 after the downing of Flight 197. Conrad was crippled with guilt and informed Victoria that if he went to prison, all of their assets would be frozen and she would have to raise Daniel all alone. The thought of her losing all of her money was unbearable. Soon Victoria began formulating a plan to frame her lover to the lifestyle she worked so hard to obtain.
First, she revealed David’s deepest secret to Conrad and the white-haired man: David’s wife wasn't dead. Secondly, on the night of the arrest she told David to meet her at his place at 9:00 so they could go to Conrad together and tell him everything. She had no intentions of confronting Conrad. She was simply ensuring that David would be home when the Feds came to arrest him. Lastly, her final betrayal to David involved Charlotte. Victoria confirmed the night of the arrest she was pregnant and she knew it was David’s child. Victoria wasn’t stupid and realized her marriage was going down the tubes. She needed a plan B because there was no backup plan. In a moment of evil brilliance, she invited Conrad to stay that night then told him later that she was pregnant with his baby. Meanwhile Conrad never suspected that his future daughter was actually the daughter of the man he sent to prison and later murdered.
Just like her relationship with Conrad, Victoria is always looking to game the system. Wealth and status, above all, are the most important things in this world. They need to be protected, even at the cost of the lives of the people who love her.
