Sometime after her training in Japan, Emily returns to the US and inserts herself into positions in the New York social scene to gather information and plant the seeds of her plan. She ends up being on the board of the New York Landmark Preservation Society with none other than Michael, the ex-husband of Lydia Davis. Lydia Davis just happens to be Emily’s first future target.
