When the man originally known only as The Stranger rode into town, he carried a mysterious wooden box with him everywhere he went. They mystery of who he was and what brought him to Storybrooke was only deepened by the mystery of what he carried with him. Eventually, Emma had enough of the guessing games and asked to see what was so important that The Stranger always carried it around. He revealed the boxβs contents in exchange for the promise of a drink with Emma. The box contained an old typewriter, and The Stranger claimed to be a writer who found inspiration in Storybrooke.
