King George’s son, James, was dead, killed in battle after winning the approval—and the promise of gold—from King Midas. In a desperate time like that, the King had no choice but to call for Rumplestiltskin, who has provided the King with James in the first place. The King traded the location of a certain Fairy Godmother in exchange for Rumplestiltskin replacing his lost son. While Rumple couldn’t bring James back from the dead, he could procure his long, lost twin brother. So it was that James’ brother, a poor shepherd, agreed to a deal of his own with Rumplestiltskin to become a Prince.
