There is, perhaps, no more iconic battle in Fairy Tale Land than the one between Snow White and Regina, the Evil Queen. But, as we learned in “The Stable Boy,” these two were not always enemies. Regina, in fact, met a young Snow White when she saved her from a runaway horse. Snow White’s father, The King, was so taken with the courageous young noblewoman who saved his precious daughter that he proposed to her. But Regina was in love with a stable boy and Snow White found out about it. After Snow promised not to tell anyone, Regina’s mother was able to manipulate the girl into revealing her daughter’s secret love affair.
Armed with the knowledge that her daughter planned to marry a stable boy instead of a King, Regina’s mother murdered Regina’s beau right before her eyes. Once the heartbroken Regina discovered what Snow had done, she made it her mission to take away Snow’s happiness forever. It started with the assassination of her father. Next, Regina sent The Huntsman to cut out Snow White’s heart. When that failed, Regina procured a sleeping curse and captured Prince Charming, forcing Snow to take a bite of a cursed apple in exchange for his life. And of course, when Charming and true love’s kiss were able to break that spell, Regina turned to The Dark Curse, even sacrificing her own, beloved father, to trap everyone in Storybrooke under her control and take away everyone’s happy endings forever!
