When Emma decided not to leave, Regina stepped up her campaign to force the issue. She started by having Sidney, the editor of the Daily Mirror, write a scathing front page article about Emma accidentally destroying some of the town's local signage. When he couldn't get any better dirt on Emma, Regina arranged to frame Ms. Swan for stealing Henry's file from Dr. Hopper's office and having her arrested. Emma responded by taking a chainsaw to the Mayor's prized apple tree. Regina's final move was to trick Emma into hurting Henry's feelings by having him overhear her disbelief in the Curse. Emma patched things up with her son and became even more resolved to stay.
