Emma’s trying to enjoy a meal at Granny’s when Sidney Glass sits down at her table. Emma knows that Sidney’s in Regina’s pocket, but he says that’s over. She had him fired from The Daily Mirror! He wants revenge and he knows how to get it. He tells Emma that he can help her dig up all of the dirt that Mayor Mills is hiding and expose her to the whole town. Emma reluctantly takes Sidney up on his offer and the two of them begin investigating a building site on the outskirts of town that Regina has been funneling funding to. They even break into her office—where Emma finds and notices a very strange set of old keys—to find out that she’s building some secret project using the town’s budget. And when the brakes on Emma’s car give out while she and Sidney are on their way to look at the site, she knows things are serious and that she can trust Sidney since Regina risked getting him killed.
Emma and Sidney storm into a town hall meeting and demand answers. Unfortunately, Regina has a really good one. She’s having a new playground built to replace the one that was damaged and made unsafe by the recent storm that passed through town. It’s a humiliating and very public defeat for Emma, but she’s glad to have a new ally in Sidney. Except, we see him meet Regina in her office later where it’s revealed that the whole thing—including cutting the brake lines—was planned by Sidney and Regina to gain her confidence. But what nefarious scheme could the two of them be cooking up?
