Freed from her cell, she retrieves Jefferson’s magical hat. Her plan is to send the Wraith into the void where the worlds once were—it turns out The Curse probably destroyed them, which is why no one went back to Fairy Tale Land when The Curse was broken. There was nothing to go back to. The Wraith attacks again and David fights it gallantly as Regina struggles to awaken the magic of the hat. She’s having trouble until Emma touches her on the arm, and then suddenly the hat comes to life. The Wraith lunges for Regina, but Emma pushes her out of the way at the last second and the creature is sucked into the portal. But just as they think they’re safe, the Wraith manages to get a hold of Emma and pulls her in after it. Unwilling to lose her daughter a second time, Mary Margaret leaps into the portal after Emma. David attempts to do the same, but is too late and the hat is destroyed. Frustrated, he turns on Regina, but her magical powers seem to have returned. She’s poised to kill David just as Henry walks in. He tells her he doesn’t want to see her again until she can prove her love to him by finding Emma and Mary Margaret. Until then, he’s off to live with his grandfather, David.
