It’s no surprise that Rumple is a less-than-gracious host to his new servant, offering her a room in the dungeon and seeming to take some pleasure in scaring her. He frightens her so much that when she brings him some tea, she drops a cup and chips it. But as the days go on, she becomes accustomed to his gruff exterior and even finds herself curious about his past. Rumplestiltskin himself seems to become charmed by the beautiful girl and after a while together, it starts to seem like these two might actually be falling in love with each other. Rumple decides to test the idea by allowing Belle to leave the manor and fetch him some straw from town. He tells her he expects she won’t come back, and on the road it looks like that’s what’s going to happen. But on her way to town she happens along the Queen’s carriage and the Evil Queen is nothing if not a great advisor. She senses what’s happening between Belle and Rumple and tells the young lady that true love’s kiss can break any spell. If she truly loves Rumplestiltskin, and he truly loves her, a kiss will break the evil curse that has consumed him.
