In the land of Fairy Tales, King Maurice—whom we recognize as the indebted florist in Storybrooke—and his kingdom are facing the terror of the Ogre Wars. The noble and handsome Gaston is there to lend aid and is betrothed to Maurice’s lovely daughter, Belle. But handsome young nobles can’t help the kingdom now, so King Maurice has summoned the only power he knows great enough to protect his people—Rumplestiltskin. The imp appears suddenly, as he always does, and agrees to protect the kingdom in exchange for Belle’s eternal service at his manor. Maurice vehemently declines, as does Gaston, but Belle agrees for the good of the people and the father she loves.
