In the land of Fairy Tales, a woodsman is chopping down a tree for his family. With him are his daughter, a strong-willed blonde girl, and his son, an impetuous dark-haired boy. Before long their names are revealed: Hansel and Gretel. Gretel asks her father to help with the chores, so he sends her and her brother off to gather kindling and hands her his compass so she can find her way back to him. But when they return with the wood a while later, their father is gone. Hearing a noise in the distance, the children run through the forest and practically stumble right into the Evil Queen’s carriage. She demands to know what the children are doing in her forest and, when Gretel explains, the Queen offers to help the children find their father in exchange for one small favor...
