In Storybrooke, we meet Ashley, who we can tell is Cinderella trapped in this world by the Curse. She’s certainly not living “happily ever after.” She’s very pregnant, and as she tells Emma, feels like everyone is telling her she can’t raise her baby on her own, and her boyfriend refuses to get involved. Emma, fired up after talking to Regina, gives Ashley a misguided pep-talk, and the girl shows her new-found gumption by breaking into Mr. Gold’s pawnshop, assaulting him, and taking a contract out of his safe before making a run for it. Mr. Gold hires Emma to find the girl, rather than involving the police, telling Ms. Swan only that Ashley has some property of his that he’d like retrieved.
