Henry is dying and the doctors at Storybrooke hospital have no idea why. Emma does. She confronts Regina and tells her that Henry ate the apple turnover. Regina is heartbroken and the two mothers team up to find a magical solution. They go to Mr. Gold who hands Emma her father’s golden sword and tells them that he had a True Love potion hidden away for just such an occasion. Regina takes Emma to a library where she descends into caverns beneath Storybrooke and faces Maleficent in her dragon form, just as her father did once upon a time. She slays the dragon and recovers the egg with the potion, but Gold tricks her into giving it to him. With the potion gone, Emma and Regina watch Henry slip away. Emma kisses her son’s forehead in a final goodbye and suddenly a pulse of energy ripples outward, overtaking everyone in Storybrooke. Suddenly everyone realizes what’s happened and who they really are. The Dark Curse is broken. Meanwhile, Rumplestiltskin, now reunited with Belle, pours the True Love potion into a local well, unleashing a magical mist. But this is no curse, it’s magic, and it’s coming to Storybrooke!
