In Storybrooke, David and Mary Margaret have been seeing each other in secret, but secrets have a way of coming out. Kathryn decides to leave David, but disappears on her way out of town. Emma, who’s now the town Sheriff, investigates with Sidney. Emma questions David at first, but then evidence begins to pile up against Mary Margaret—including a jewelry box with Kathryn’s heart inside and MM’s fingerprint on it! Emma is forced to arrest Mary Margaret and things aren’t looking good, even with Mr. Gold as Mary Margaret’s attorney. Emma can’t find anything to help her friend until a traveling writer named August Booth (Pinocchio) helps her uncover that Regina is framing Mary Margaret, but she can’t find any real proof. Things look bleak until Kathryn suddenly reappears behind Granny’s diner. With no murder, the charges against Mary Margaret are dropped and Regina’s scheme for revenge seems to have unraveled.
