Ruby and Emma got to know each other pretty quickly with Emma initially staying at Granny’s and eating there all the time. When Mr. Gold hired Emma to find Ashley Boyd, who had broken into his shop, stolen a contract and run away, Emma came looking for Ruby, knowing the two of them were close. Knowing what was really happening, Ruby sent Emma off on wild goose chase while she loaned Ashley her car so she could run away to Boston. The truth was Ashley had signed her unborn baby over to Mr. Gold and had changed her mind. With no one else to turn to, Ashley turned to her friend, Ruby. In the end, Ashley didn’t make it out of Storybrooke, but she got to keep her baby.
