Not one to pick sides, Mr. Gold was also happy to make deals with Mayor Regina Mills (The Evil Queen), though often to her detriment. We learn that he was the one who found baby Henry for Regina when she was looking to adopt, and he may have had his own motives for picking that particular child. When it came time for her to get rid of Mary Margaret for good, she arranged a deal with Mr. Gold in which something “tragic” would happen to Kathryn and Mary Margaret would try to leave Storybrooke. Everything seems to be going according to Regina’s plan until Kathryn reappears. Regina is furious, but Gold insists he lived up to his end of the deal—she was “tragically” abducted and Mary Margaret was indeed blamed at one point. Over the course of their dealings, it becomes clear to Regina that only does Gold know the truth—he has a way of getting what he wants from her whenever he says, “please”—and he seems to have his own agenda regarding The Curse.
