With Emma needing work while she’s staying in Storybrooke, Mr. Gold hires her to find a local girl for him. It seems Ashley (Cinderella) broke into his store, knocked him out and stole something valuable. Emma goes after the very pregnant Ashley and finds her in labor on the side of the road heading out of town. She gets her back to the hospital where she realizes that Gold actually has a contract to take possession of Ashley’s baby. Emma makes a deal with Gold where she trades him “a favor” in exchange for Ashley keeping her baby. And after Sheriff Graham’s death, it’s Gold who tells Emma that she can run for the position in an election and helps her win, both by setting a fire that makes her a town hero and by being the villain for her to stand up to when she tells the truth about it. As it stands, now-Sheriff Swan still owes him that favor....
