Henry relies on his book of fairy tales for insight into who the people of Storybrooke really are and what their true motivations might be. Regina is constantly searching for the book, both to get Henry to abandon his ideas about The Curse as well as for information, so Henry keeps it hidden in various locations. But one time, after a big storm, the book goes missing. Emma finds it a few days later, lying in a gutter, and gives it back to him. When he reads it later, he realizes a story has been added—the story of Pinocchio—but it’s unfinished. He realizes that the stranger in town, August Booth, who had already joined Operation Cobra, is actually Pinocchio, and he took the book and added to it.
