When Regina uses the magic apple from Fairy Tale Land in an attempt to poison Emma, Henry knowingly sacrifices himself to prove to Emma that The Curse is real. When she brings his dying body into the Storybrooke hospital and sees Regina, she knows the truth. The two mothers temporarily set aside their feud to save Henry and go to Mr. Gold for help. He gives Emma her father—Prince Charming’s—golden sword and tells her and Regina where they can get a potion of True Love that can break any curse—inside the belly of Maleficent. Emma battles the sorceress, who’s been trapped in her dragon form, in the caverns beneath Storybrooke, and recovers the potion. But when Mr. Gold steals it for his own purposes, she’s left with nothing. She and Regina return to the hospital to find Henry slipping away. Emma kisses her son gently on the forehead to say goodbye, but as she does, a wave of energy ripples outward, overtaking everyone in Storybrooke. Suddenly everyone looks around with a new sense of understanding. The Curse is broken. Emma has become The Savior after all!
