Emma isn’t the only new person in town. Shortly after she’s elected Sheriff, a traveling writer calling himself August W. Booth rides into town on his motorcycle. Emma has a flirtatious relationship with the mysterious writer, but he eventually reveals to her that he believes Henry and can prove the truth. He is Pinocchio, and his father, Geppetto, carved the magical wardrobe that transported baby Emma to the real world. Geppetto used his position to secure Pinocchio would also escape The Dark Curse, but the young boy couldn’t find the will to stay and protect baby Emma, leaving her to grow up alone in foster care. Now that Emma is in Storybrooke and The Curse is weakening, August is turning back into wood, but Emma can’t see it. She refuses to see that The Curse is real or to accept her role as The Savior.
