I love Halloween. I love the costumes -- even carrying a fake gun around town is better than nothing. I love slamming down tons of candy with my family and riding the sugar rush. And I love all the history and mythology wrapped up with it. The ancient Celts used to slaughter their pigs on Samhain -- a custom related to our modern Halloween -- so even back then they knew the value of bacon. Plus, since the harvest had recently wrapped up, there was plenty of grain available, and that meant one thing: gallons and gallons of beer. Those Celts knew how to do it right.
I guess I always knew that at some point, the Baxter kids would get too old for Halloween. But I didn’t think they’d get too young. I still can’t believe Kristin told me not to take Boyd out. It’s not the first time he’s been dressed all weird (thanks to that preschool of his), or eaten a bunch of candy. Heck, he’s even been among the walking dead -- we ate dinner out around 5pm last week. Just gray hair and walkers as far as the eye could see.
I think she was probably just upset she had to miss out on Boyd’s first Halloween because of work. I can appreciate that. I think she was probably just upset she had to miss out on Halloween because of work. I can appreciate that -- you never want to miss out on a chance to make those lasting memories. I know I’ll never forget the Halloween when Elway took the Broncos 96 yards in 42 seconds for a comeback victory on Monday Night Football. Amazing. Also the ones I had with the girls were good too. Their first nights trick-or-treating or whatever. Good times.
It was also nice to see that Victor got into the spirit on account of Eve, but boy, if that kid starts down that road now he’ll never get to do what he wants again. Women are like pit bulls with behavior like that: They latch onto it and never let go until one of you is dead.
