On Monday's GH, Lucy encountered John McBain, freaked out, and called him "Caleb." Then on Tuesday, she called Sam "Livvie" and then up and drove a stake into John's shoulder. What exactly is going on there? The answers to that involve a short history lesson and a little daytime soap called Port Charles.
Ten-plus years ago, Lucy Coe's life and loves were chronicled on the General Hospital spinoff Port Charles. While taking place in the same city as GH, Port Charles would grow to feature a darker, more mysterious side of the city. One big part of that dark side was the presence of a vampire named Caleb Morley who stalked, in particular, a beautiful young woman named Livvie Locke. Livvie's father was Dr. Kevin Collins, on-again off-again love interest of Lucy Coe. Caleb terrorized the good people of Port Charles (at least the ones on Port Charles), and Livvie was under Caleb's thrall. Under his spell, she ended up carrying out some pretty dark deeds. Lined up against Caleb was our pal Lucy, who found out that she was descended from a long line of vampire slayers. Port Charles was doing its own thing! Lucy ended up prevailing, Livvie was freed from Caleb's control, and Caleb was thought to have been defeated.
So what does that have to do with the here and now? Well, as you can see in these images, Caleb looked an awful lot like John McBain does today, and Livvie was the spitting image of our Sam McCall. (Only in soaps, right? Don't get us started on Claudia Zacchara.) Lucy, of course, is still Lucy. Her vampire-slaying days may be behind her, but obviously given the events of the last few days, not THAT far behind her.
What exactly is happening? John and Sam aren't really Caleb and Sam, right? Is Lucy just pure crazy? There is more going on here than meets the eye, that's for sure. Stay tuned...
