In an interview with TV Guide, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) confessed that he has chosen to exit General Hospital in the coming months. This, of course, is disappointing news, as Steve is an integral part of the GH/ABC family. He will be severely missed by the entire cast, crew and you, the devoted fans. Yesterday some of Steve’s cast mates took to Twitter to react to the news. “Steve leaving is like a family member leaving the house. I may cry like a little girl who just lost her puppy,” said Maurice Benard (Sonny). Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) said “Steve’s chosen to move his family to Tennessee. He’s been wanting to do it for a long time. I’m happy for him and his family.” “‘I’m happy I’m home with my kids today. But yes, I’m sure most of you are sad about Stevie B.,’ wrote Laura Wright (Carly) ‘but I’m sure most of you understand his need to move on and have a life change. 21 yrs is a long time. Steve is so talented with so many interests. I am happy and excited for my friend who I will miss!!’” Jason Thompson (Patrick) said “Steve, quitting? I’ll say this about @1Steve Burton nothing about this guy is a “quitter.” Gracious, caring, professional. And a family man!”
We wish Steve and his family all the best as they begin the next exciting chapter in their lives. Be sure to check ABC.com on a daily basis for more details on how Jason’s storyline will unfold over the next few months – all leading up to GH’s monumental 50th Anniversary on April 1, 2013 – all of which is not to be missed!
