Running a business is hard work. It's even harder when you're taking over for someone who's not ready to give it up. It's harder still when that person kinda sorta thinks you're a failure.

This peek into the script of ABC's Family Tools sums up this phenomenon:

TONY:
Here's the deal. I poured decades of blood, sweat, and tears into that business. It's like a son to me. And my feeling now with you right next to me is, "Who besides my real son could I get to run it?"

JACK:
I appreciate that sentiment, Dad.

TONY:
