![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

Week 3 was Iconic Dances night and Shawn and Derek picked Helio Castroneves's Quickstep to "Hey Pachuco" by the Royal Crown Revue. The pair added a gymnastics flair to the dance complete with a stage dive at the end. The judges were a bit mixed in their scoring, but the pair still landed in third place for the night.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9.5
Carrie Ann was in awe, stating: "That was by far the best dance I've ever seen on Dancing with the Stars," while Len remarked, "Your ability to interpret music into movement is incredible."
