![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

Melissa and Tony were assigned the Jitterbug in Week 4. Dancing to "This Cat's On A Hot Tin Roof," by The Brian Setzer Orchestra, the couple didn't stop moving once they began their routine. Melissa had been weary of being compared to Shawn, who did the Jitterbug the week before, but she and Tony found their own rhythm to this dance.
