![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

Melissa was paired with Tony Dovolani back in Season 8, when they made it to the semi-finals. She was giving a lot to return to the All-Star season, this time determined to win the Mirror Ball trophy and be the best partner Tony ever had. For their first dance of the season, the pair did a Foxtrot to "Big Spender" by Shirley Bassey.

Both Len and Carrie Ann were impressed with Melissa's lines, and Carrie Ann commented, "You have the most exquisite lines. Your extension is fabulous."
