![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

It was Country in the ballroom for Week 6. Kelly and Val were feeling the challenge since her original season had only been six weeks, and felt she was now in uncharted territory. Assigned the Tango, she felt that holding her frame, and mastering the headwork and footwork was all a challenge. The pair hit the dance floor, performing to "Good Girl" by Carrie Underwood and the judges rewarded the hardwork with solid scores.

Bruno was lyrical in his assessment: "Gone with the Wind, engulfed with the flames of passion...seductress Vivien Leigh."
