![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

Week 3 brought Iconic Dance night to the ballroom. Apolo and Karina decided to do a Foxtrot to "Fever" by Michael Buble, recreating the dance that Gilles & Cheryl had previously done. Apolo was interested in presenting a different part of himself, and chose an artistic interpretation complete with Karina as a statue coming to life. The pair earned their first 9 of the competition, and tied with several couples for third place.

Len: 8
Bruno: 8.5
Carrie Ann was impressed, stating, "I think this is going to be one of the memorable dances we aren't going to forget."
