![For the first time ever, the "Contemporary" dance style was performed as part of the competition. Kelly and Val brought true emotional storytelling to the dance floor with their routine to "Fix You," by Coldplay, and it paid off. Kelly remarked during rehearsals, "[Val's] teaching me how to trust again...it's kind of amazing."

Week 2 kicked it up - with the couples performing faster dances. Apolo and Karina did a Quickstep to "5 Months, 2 Weeks, 2 Days," by Louis Prima. The judges were wowed and the pair landed in fourth place for a second week.
