Performance Show – Week 8
It’s double elimination time as we look to get down to the final four. To make things interesting, each team’s second routine will include an additional dancer in a trio competition. Hey, three’s company, right?
Donald & Peta
This dancing duo is totally decked out in black as they do their twisting and twirling Tango to kick off the night. Len says the dance was a first round knockout. Bruno loved the aggression and power. Donald was going for it like there was no tomorrow. Carrie Ann says Donald was in the zone, but she wants him to bring more drama. Her fellow judges disagree with her critique. Trip 9s gives them a total of 27 for this dance.
For Round 2, Karina joins Donald and Peta to dance the Jive in the first trio dance of the night. Donald takes center stage with a lovely lady on either side in a high-energy routine. Len says the dance was fun, fun, fun. Bruno was impressed they kept in sync. Carrie Ann loved their three-way! 10-9-9 gives them a total of 28 for this dance. They have a combined total of 55.
Maria & Derek
Maria and Derek do a lovely, emotional Viennese Waltz. Maria is somewhat choked up when the dance is done. Bruno thought the dance had heavenly fluidity along with total emotional involvement. Carrie Ann says something magical is happening with this unique team. Len thinks Derek may have missed an opportunity as far as holds go since Maria is so good at them. He was actually disappointed. 10-8-10 gives them a total of 28 for this dance.
Henry from the Dance Troupe is asked to help Derek do something that’s never been done on the show before: Bollywood! With Maria in the middle, the boys help her do a sexy, slithery Samba. Bruno thought the dance was creatively incredible though Maria lost timing a few times. Carrie Ann agrees that it was a beautiful number, but the top-notch choreography may have made the slip-ups stick out. Len says this was a great Bollywood number, but the dance needed to be a Samba and it wasn’t. 9-7-9 gives them a total of 25 for this dance. When added to the previous dance, this team has a total of 53 for the night.
Melissa & Maks
Melissa and Maks put a rough rehearsal week behind them to dance their Foxtrot. Carrie Ann exclaims that Melissa’s shoulders were down in her best dance ever. Len says there were one or two incidents, but this had the potential to be her best dance. Bruno agrees that there were some mistakes, but also agrees on the “best dance” comments. Trip 8s gives them a total of 24 for this dance.
Melissa ends up in between two dancing brothers as Val joins her and Maks in a sexy Samba. Carrie Ann loved the Maksim and Val sandwich as she now claims “this” was Melissa’s best dance so far. Len says three was not a crowd in this case, as he also believes this was Melissa’s best dance. Bruno believes it takes two to get the best out of Melissa. Trip 9s gives them a 27 for this dance and a total of 51 for the night.
Katherine & Mark
Katherine and Mark seem to be floating around the dance floor as they do their Viennese Waltz. Len says this dance had plenty of content, but he didn’t like the spinning part which gave them problems. Bruno says Katherine’s technique is superb, but saw the slight moment where they lost it. Carrie Ann says that Katherine really needs to be careful to not lose her balance at this point in the competition. 8-9-9 gives them a total of 26 for this dance.
Tristan joins Mark to dress up like a couple of spy guys surrounding Katherine for their Cha Cha. Len thought the dance was clean and clear. Bruno thought it was sexy and cool. This was an absolutely wonderful dance. Carrie Ann says this dance had fire, as Katherine didn’t miss a beat even though a portion of clothing got caught on her foot. 10-9-10 gives them a 29 for this dance and a total of 55 for the night.
Roshon & Chelsie
Roshon and Chelsie do a fun Foxtrot to Amos Lee’s “Sweet Pea.” Bruno says there wasn’t a hint of jerkiness. It was like watching a young Mickey Rooney. It was a joy. Carrie Ann says Roshon made his grannies proud and everyone else proud, too. Len says, “Good job, Dawg.” That means he liked it. 10-9-10 gives them a total of 29 for their highest score so far.
Troupe dancer Sasha joins Roshon and Chelsie for their Paso Doble. Bruno liked the strength, power and artistry but unfortunately Roshon lost it at times. Carrie Ann loved the strategy of the dance, but there were some off parts. Len thought the guys were like two skinny fries chasing the ketchup. He means this as a compliment, as Len loved the dance. Trip 9s gives them a 27 and a total 56 for the night.
William & Cheryl
William and Cheryl do the “Stray Cats Strut” with style as they perform their slick Foxtrot. Carrie Ann felt the dance was a super, sexy Pink Panther dance. Len says there was care in the technique and flair in the movement. Bruno says William couldn’t be more debonair or suave if he tried. Trip 10s gives them a perfect 30 for this dance.
The capes were flying as Tony joins William, who was channeling his inner-Zorro, to dance the Paso Doble with Cheryl. Carrie Ann thought the lines in the dance were incredible in a fun-to-watch dance. Len salutes this dancing trio. Bruno says he couldn’t ask for more as far as performance value, but they lost sync. Trip 9s gives them a 27. Add that to their earlier score, they end the night with a total of 57.
Well, there were some fine dances with the teams and trios tonight. But as we mentioned earlier, this is a double elimination week. We’ll have to wait for the Results Show to see which “two” teams will be heading home.
