The Ryan Report—Episode 418 "A Dance with Death"

It really shouldn't surprise anyone, that this little thing I wear around my finger, is more than just a piece of jewelry to me. I probably shouldn't commit what I am about to say to writing (and to compensate, I just want everyone out there to know I love football, beer and... I don't know... doing pushups? Oh! Trucks, there we go, I love trucks), but what I want to say, is that this ring is more than just a ring. It really is the eternal symbol of my love and commitment to Jenny. Again, let me say I love seven-layer steak nachos and power tools too, but I also love my wife.
I think part of what makes this ring so special, is that it was never supposed to be special. You can easily build up the meaning of a thing like a wedding ring too much, so that the real thing can't live up, but we did the opposite. See, my police salary doesn't exactly bring in money by the truckload and while Jenny has some dollar signs in her future she's plugging along like me for the time being. So when it came to a choice between expensive wedding rings and paying rent, we went with the later, but we still needed something to put on our fingers.
They were just supposed to be placeholders, until we could actually afford nice rings. We scoured the Internet for them one night after getting home from a few too many cocktails. I didn't even remember that we'd ordered them until they arrived at our door step. But when I pulled them out of the box, I knew we'd never need anything else. They are silver with the words "Mo Anam Cara", which means "My Soul Mate" written around the edges and the Claddagh, an Irish symbol representing friendship, love and marriage, in the middle. These were never meant to be our real rings, but now I can't imagine anything that could mean more to us. Jenny put it on my finger the day we got married and I haven't taken it off since.
Well, I hadn't taken it off until I did, but let's not get into the specifics of how the ring ended up on Esposito's finger - that's really neither here nor there.
Let's all just be happy I got it back.
Especially Esposito--I was starting to eye Lanie's bone saw.
