Betsy Sinclair
Born Edwina Johnson, Betsy was the lucky 13th child of a preacher’s family in Tupelo, Mississippi. A shy and soft-spoken girl, Betsy found her voice at the age of 9 in her father’s church when she had to perform as a last minute replacement for the choir’s soloist. Over the following years, Betsy, developed her distinctive sultry musical style, and at the age of 17, against her parents’ wishes, came up with her stage name and left home to pursue her now up and coming career as a jazz singer.
