Character Bio
Before joining the 12th precinct as a homicide detective, Esposito served in the Special Forces and was an officer in the Organized Crime Task Force at the 54th precinct. Alongside his partner Detective Ryan, they work tirelessly with Detective Beckett to solve murders and bring killers to justice. Always ready with a sardonic comment, Esposito is a loyal partner and a dedicated cop. Even in the face of adversity, he’s got his game face on and nothing can break him. He may have a bit of a bromance with Ryan but he considers himself quite the ladies man. Despite his constant wise cracks, Esposito is very intuitive and has always recognized the romantic tension between Beckett and Castle.
Actor Bio
Jon Huertas is a multifaceted actor and performer whose career spans television, film and music. His stand-out performance in the critically acclaimed HBO miniseries Generation Kill, as Sgt. Tony "Poke" Espera, offered a streetwise view of the U.S. Marines' 1st Recon Battalion in the first five weeks of the invasion on Iraq. Huertas kept busy during hiatus from Castle, filming the independent feature Stash House, opposite Sean Faris, Briana Evigan and Dolph Lundgren. He also found time to produce a top notch short film, After-School Special, by writer/director Neil LaBute and starring Wes Bentley and Sarah Paulson, which premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Recently Huertas made his debut into the world of music with his single and video, Sex is the Word…, from the upcoming album SEX TAPE. He wrote, produced and released the single and upcoming album via his own indie label, MIDRATS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, in which he serves as CEO.
Last year Huertas was heard voicing Alberto in the feature film sequel, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, and also did voice-work in the popular HALO video game franchise for Microsoft's HALO Reach title on Xbox 360. Among his film credits, Huertas co-starred in the feature Right at Your Door, which won Best Cinematography at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Additionally he co-produced and starred in 2007's The Insatiable, opposite Sean Patrick Flanery and Michael Biehn. Other film credits include The Objective, Believers, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, Bug, Executive Decision and Picking Up the Pieces, with Woody Allen and Sharon Stone. He has also completed a number of starring and guest starring roles on such hit TV series as Prison Break, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, NCIS, CSI, Cold Case, Dark Blue and Without a Trace.
Huertas has built an impressive resume during his career which exemplifies his wide array of talents, artistic range, patriotism and philanthropy. A native New Yorker, he trained in Musical Theatre at TCU. And as a surprise to most, he served in the U.S. military for eight years, becoming a veteran of three conflicts, including the 1st Gulf War, before becoming a professional actor.
Huertas continues to serve as a member on the board of the non-profit organization Puppies Behind Bars (www.puppiesbehindbars.com), a program in which prison inmates train service dogs to benefit returning war veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other ailments. His charitable work extends into acting as well, as he currently holds the position of SAG Hollywood Division Board Member acting as Chairman of the SAG Armed Forces Support Task Force.
